Ladurée Macarons

My husband bought these from Brown Thomas as a special Christmas treat!

Bush de Noël

This year, we're going to host a big family Christmas dinner for the first time. I made Bush de Noël today. I hope people will like it as some Irish people have a conservative taste.

Lucca Italian Restaurant, Fort Lauderdale, Florida

A bit pricey, but quite nice. I was particularly impressed with the octopus I had for starter. http://www.luccafl.com/

The Floridian, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA

Found this place in our guidebook. It was very busy with people having Sunday brunch as the guidebook says. A lot busier than any other cafes or restaurants. I tried pancakes. They're enormous as this is USA! And a lot nicer than the ones I had in New York. This place is open 24 hours a day, so I may try one of these nights when I can't sleep.

Dunkin Donuts

I have to eat donuts when I'm on holiday abroad as there's no doughnuts shop in Dublin. There used to be one in UCD campus years ago... I had a marble glazed doughnuts with a frozen coffee, which was quite nice. It tasted like a 'coffee shake'.

MacDonald's Festive Menu

Nothing festive about these burgers, and they're not particularly nice, either...

Lorge Chocolate

Bought this box of chocolate from Lorge Chocolatier at Food & Wine Magazine Christmas Show last week. Lovely handmade chocolates by a french chocolatier. I wonder there's any french chocolatier in Dublin. I saw one in Cork...

The Market Butcher, Rathcoole

We discovered this butcher at the Food and Wine Magazine Christmas Show. This butcher supplies l'Ecrivain restaurant. Everything looks great and everything is a lot cheaper than supermarkets. I had to leave as I wanted to buy everything I saw....

Food & Wine Magazine Christmas Show

Went to the RDS. I really enjoyed the cooking demonstration by Derry Clarke, the chef of l'Ecrivain. We also discovered a nice butcher in Rathcoole, and bought 2 vouchers for Roly's Bistro. I'm so glad I went there!

Butlers Hot Chocolate

http://www.butlerschocolates.com/irish-chocolate-gift/NEW*-Butlers-Hot-Chocolate-at-Home-(230g)/160.htm

I had imagined a sachet, but it looked like real chocolate and I almost ate it :-))

As I don't like milk, I used some water and some milk, but it turned out really nice!!

Han Yang Korean BBQ Restaurant

http://www.menupages.ie/cuisines/korean/restaurants/han_yang_korean_bbq_restaurant.aspx

Went with my husband, my husband's father & step-mother, my Irish friend and my Japanese friend. It seems to be run by Chinese people and serve Chinese, Korean and Japanese food. The Japanese food wasn't great (my husband and his step-mother tried), but the Korean food was OK. I tried Bibimbap (see the photo). The serving was very generous (in fact, it was too generous and none of us could finish the meal). The people working there don't speak English very well. I wouldn't mind going back there for Chinese & Korean food (but not Japanese).

4 in 1 Party Grill

I bought '4 in 1 Party Grill' at Marks and Spencer. This can make 1. Toasted Sandwiches 2. Waffles 3. Doughnuts 4. Grill by replacing the plates. I nearly bought something like this in Japan as I had never seen it in Ireland.

Looking forward to making waffles & doughnuts.

Sushi

My husband & I went to the annual bazzar held by the Japanese Saturday School at St. Tiernan's School. My husband bought 'Chirashi Zushi' (sushi with scattered toppings) and 'Maki Zushi'.

Quite nice. We had them with green tea. The tea cup in the photo is 'Bizen-yaki'.
