The first homegrown salad this year. The weather has been so bad the lettuce leaves are only from the glass house, apart from the rocket which grows like weeds.
Went to Food & Wine magazine's Readers' Evening at Chapter One. Had a good time. Though I wasn't impressed with the starter or the 'sashimi' style organic salmon (there was nothing sashimish about it!!), I was very very impressed with the dessert. The gratin and the slow cooked 'cow's cheek' was tasty, too.
At last I succeeded to make decent croissants!! They were a bit small, but tasted really well. It was time consuming, but it was definitely worth the effort.
Made with organic orange and lemon skins, using Terence Conran's recipe book. I also made chocolate coated ones, hoping that they may taste like the Amorino Chocolate from Paris.
Went to Beaufield Mews where my friend had a wedding reception. This is where we had our wedding reception 9 years ago, and my friend and his then girl friend were our guests, too.
The food was lovely (just like 9 years ago!). And it's very near our house, only 10 minutes' drive.
A gift from a Japanese friend of mine. Daifuku is one of the traditional Japanese sweets. I'm not particularly mad about traditional Japanese sweets, but this one was nice as there was no aduki bean custard, and has a chocolate flavour.
